Old Town Ramble and Ride fights through poor weather

Wednesday, August 8, 2012 - 5:28 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The poor weather that was seen over the weekend might have put a damper on some people's plans. But for the Old Town Ramble and Ride, the show went on.

Despite a few delays and the need to make some adjustments to the location of some events and organizers were able to entertain the 1500 residents who came out with live music, dance and special showcases.

Co-ordinator Vanny Baron said thanks to some quick actions, the live musical performances were able to go on.

"We had a bit of a mad scramble when some of our stages we weren’t able to put up our electrical equipment because of the rain. So we had to kind of reposition people in different venues that had rain coverage, but the music was great."

Baron said the Moving Dance Space performances drew a lot of crowd attention over the entire weekend.

"The Moving Spaces dance and music performances happen both days despite the weather, and they had a massive turnout."

Baron said the event that suffered the most from the uncooperative weather was the Rainbow Car Wash, which had to be cut short.
