Friday, July 27, 2012 - 4:17 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - Roughly thirty members of the Sir John Franklin High School class of 1982 will gather in Yellowknife this weekend for their 30 year reunion.

It will be the fourth reunion for the class, which organizing committee member Lana Larocque has been very close since graduating three decades ago.

She said they're kicking off the festivities on Friday.

"We have a hike out to Cameron Falls, then it’s the meet and greet at Twist at 8 o’clock and that’s where everyone gets together and then will talk about the rest of the weekend which starts again on Saturday."

Saturday consists of a tour of Sir John, followed by a game of golf, and then a night out.

Larocque said there are a number of reasons why the group is continuing the tradition.

"Thirty years is a really good opportunity to get back to get back together, to come home and touch the rock and you know see Great Slave Lake and see all our friends"

The reunion wraps up on Sunday with a family day at Long Lake and the public is welcome to attend any of the events.
