Sam's Monkey Tree faces Liquor Licensing Board hearing

Yellowknife, N.W.T – Sam's Monkey Tree Pub went before the NWT Liquor Licensing Board on Monday.
The bar is charged with violating two sections of the territory's Liquor Act - allowing an intoxicated person to remain in the pub and serving or selling liquor to an intoxicated person.
It's alleged that on the night of Oct. 30, two liquor inspectors came across three people who were intoxicated at the establishment.
On Monday morning, the board heard from witnesses, including the inspectors, who testified that one man was staggering, and spilling his drink, one woman was seen slurring with glassy eyes, while another girl was at one point seen sitting on the dance floor.
The board was expected to make a decision on the allegations by the end of the day.
If the Monkey Tree is found to have violated the Liquor Act, their licence could be suspended or revoked and they could face a fine.
