Brittany Beaulieu decides against changing bail conditions

Friday, April 27, 2012 - 4:44 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The daughter of Heath and Social Services minister Tom Beaulieu is not going ahead with a second application to change her bail conditions.

Brittany Beaulieu is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Beaulieu had scheduled time on Friday morning in territorial court to apply to change her conditions.

However, defense lawyer Stephen Shabala, appearing as an agent for her Edmonton-based council, told the court the application had been abandoned.

Last month, she put up an additional five thousand dollars in bail from two more sureties in order to have her conditions changed.

She had been required to live at her parents' house, but a judge granted her request to stay with a relative if her parents both needed to go out of town.

The case will be back in court May 22.

On that date, Beaulieu is expected to decide how she would like to be tried.
