Buffalo Airways made part of Danish Legoland display

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - While it may be every little kid's dream to be immortalized as a Lego character, very few people ever get to see that realized.

But for Buffalo Airways general manager Mikey McBryan, that dream has been made a reality at Legoland Park in Billand, Denmark.

Buffalo has been included as part of a polar exhibit at the park which McBryan said features more than just them.

"They build this huge mountain, this, kind of like ice, mountain where this roller coaster goes through. And the roller coaster is a snowmobile, and it goes around and you end up in this cave, and then you stop, and then it drops you like five metres, like just freefalls you."

The park has also brought in live penguins and has a polar-themed restaurant with memorabilia on the walls.

McBryan said it's all part of a surge in the North's popularity.

"People from all over the world, they're now interested in us. You know, we were almost sometimes feeling like, you know that misplaced microwave dinner at the back of the freezer everyone forgets about, but now we're becoming centre stage. And it's all of us because, you know, we all live up here together so it's kind of cool."

McBryan said the timing for the exhibit is perfect because the first season of Ice Pilots NWT is just starting in Denmark.
