Actor Milligan's scholarship handed out to Sir John student

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - Each year, a student from Sir John Franklin is awarded the Enough Talk, Hurry Up and Do It Already scholarship.

The scholarship, started by Yellowknife-born actor and Sir John Franklin High School grad Dustin Milligan, is given to a student who has been accepted into a post-secondary arts program in the performing arts, film, music or writing, and is worth $1,000.

This year's winner was Makenzie Zouboules.

Sir John's vice-principal, Dean McInnis, said that Zouboules stood out over her time at the school in the arts programs.

"Her years involved in, not only drama productions, but art class, photography, those kind of strengths. She's a very strong linguistic student. She's got a passion for writing. I think a combination of all those things, along, obviously, with her bubbly character and personality made her a candidate that we could not look past."

McInnis said the scholarship helps the recipients to pursue their dreams in their education.

"They get financial support in order to pursue their passion. Makenzie's passion is writing and that's what she gets support for."

Zouboules will be studying fine arts at the University of Victoria in the fall.
