NewsInuvik man to have case tried in FrenchThursday, January 26, 2012 - 5:25 PM Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The man accused of several sex-related crimes in Inuvik will be able to communicate in his native tongue. Hugues Latour appeared in a Yellowknife courtroom on Wednesday via video link from the North Slave Correctional Centre, where he is being held on charges of making and possessing child pornography, sexual assault and forcible confinement. Crown prosecutor Danielle Vaillaincourt said Latour elected to have his trial conducted in French to make it easier for him. Vaillaincourt said there is still information coming in from police on some of the matters before the court, but the Crown will proceed on charges of forcible confinement and disobeying the court. Latour will appear in court again on Jan. 31st to set a trial date for those three charges. He is also facing charges in Supreme Court for abduction of a minor. His bail hearing set for Feb. 6th and his trial date for that charge is expected to be set on Feb. 27th. CJCD Mix 100 News Similar StoriesMost Viewed Stories
