NewsDeh Cho Bridge spans the Mackenzie River
Yellowknife, N.W.T. - After much criticism and many delays, the Deh Cho Bridge has reached a milestone. The bridge has now been spanned. The northern and southern trusses were connected this past Sunday, Feb. 26th, in Fort Providence. Transportation minister Dave Ramsay, who was one of the more vocal critics of the entire project when he was a regular member of the Legislative Assembly, said he now wants to see everything move ahead right to the finish. "We have to move the project forward. I think since I've become minister that is what I want to see, is the project to move forward into as positive a light as we possibly can put on it," said Ramsay. Ramsay also said once the bridge is complete, he will keep one of the promises he made before he was transportation minister. "I have committed to a full and thorough review of the project in its entirety so we can learn," said Ramsay. "Whatever lessons there are to learn we will be sure to have learned those lessons going forward." The bridge is still due to open in the fall of this year. CJCD Mix 100 News More Local
