Beaulieu asks for, receives changes to her bail conditions

Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - 4:27 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The daughter of health and social services minister Tom Beaulieu was in court on Tuesday to ask for changes to her bail conditions.

Brittany Beaulieu was required to live with her father and step mother.

However, defense council requested a change that would allow the minister and his partner to go out of town.

The condition was amended to allow her to stay with a family member if the couple were out of town but she would have to provide written notice beforehand to the Yellowknife RCMP.

However, in order for crown prosecutors to consent, two additional sureties had to put up an additional $5,000 in bail.

Beaulieu has been charged with two counts of drug possession for the purposes of trafficking.

The charges were laid after Yellowknife RCMP seized 38 pounds of marijuana, two kilograms of cocaine and 500 grams of crack cocaine from a home in Yellowknife in January.

Beaulieu's next court date is set for Apr. 24th.
