Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The Folk on the Rocks line up has been released and includes some famous Canadian names such as Ron Sexsmith and Bruce Cockburn.

But executive director Penny Ruvinsky said there are also many slightly lesser known groups she's eager to introduce to audiences.

"Certainly I'm really interested in the elder throat singers from Cape Dorset. In the past we've had much younger throat singers in so it'll be wonderful to have that traditional piece come along. I'm also really looking forward to the audience's response to Tequila Mockingbird and certainly to Timber Timbre who become quite well known."

Others on the line up include Fort Simpson fiddler Wesley Hardisty and Indio Saravanja.

Ruvinsky explained what the selections committee was looking at when putting the line up together.

"Folks who have been in the industry for a long time, folks who may be new to the industry, folks who are coming from very different genres but which have, in fact, a common background."

Folk on the Rocks will take place July 19th to 22nd this year.
