NewsHay River kicks off Hay Days Festival on Friday
Yellowknife, N.W.T. - Hay River's Hay Days Music Festival kicked off Friday, and it runs over the next three days with local art and culture from the South Slave area. One of the main events taking place Friday night is a musicians bar tour, where artists are moving from bar to bar playing live shows. Hay Days coordinator Tiffany Gallivan said this year they have one particularly unique feature from Vancouver that will give people a chance to see some things they might not have before. "One of the big draws is the AquaVan. It’s from the Vancouver aquarium. It’s a mobile aquarium and they are coming in at noon on Saturday, so you can touch a sea star or just see all the marine life." Gallivan said Hay Days was created three years ago to help bring the music and arts community back to Hay River. "They put this event together and it is actually a pretty big event for Hay River over three days. I think it’s one of the biggest arts events in Hay River for sure, so it is a pretty significant event for this community." Hay Days kicks off Friday night around seven with a dance, followed by a night of live music until the late hours of the evening. CJCD Mix 100 News More Local
