Yellowknife, N.W.T. - Folk on the Rocks has added a few more acts to its line-up. For the 2012 event.

New additions include local artists such as the Yellowknives Dene Drummers and Dana Sipos.

Jessica Young will also be using the skills she learned at a clown work shop this year to entertain on the children's stage.

Young said she'll be teaming up with a fellow performer to put on a show centered on percussion and clowning.

“We’ll be bringing in lots of household items, items that would normally be thrown in the trash, old buckets and whatnot,” she said. “We’ll use those as percussive instruments because we can give them out to the kids and have them be a part of the performance.”

As Folk on the Rocks executive director Penny Ruvinsky explained, the new line-up also includes some southern acts.

“Certainly, Kate Vriend and Tricot Machine will be a huge hit,” she said. “Tricot Machine is a French duo from Quebec and have been well-received in many places.”

Other performers added to the schedule include Pat Braden, Rick and the Relics and William Greenland.

The new additions join big names such as Ron Sexsmith and Bruce Cockburn on this year's line-up.
