Aurora College names interim president for three month term

Wednesday, July 4, 2012 - 2:04 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - A familiar face to many at Aurora College has stepped in to fill the president's role on an interim basis.

Jane Arychuk, who was with the college for a number of years, will fill the position for a three-month term which began Tuesday.

Arychuk was recently the director of community education with the Tlicho Community Services Agency based in Behchoko before that, she served as vice-president of community and extensions and campus director at the college's Yellowknife location.

The interim chair of the college's board of governors, Sydney O'Sullivan, said Arychuk was the person they were looking for after doing some research.

"We looked at a number of possibilities and Jane really came to the top of the list."

Arychuk's appointment was made official on June 26th and O'Sullivan said it wasn't too difficult of a decision for her to make.

"We had something to think about but reasonably quickly."

O'Sullivan said the process of finding a permanent replacement will continue and hopes that there can be some overlap between Arychuk and the new president.
