RCMP search for suspects in apparent office assault

Tuesday, May 8, 2012 - 4:14 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - A woman was found unconscious in her downtown Yellowknife office on Monday morning, the apparent victim of an assault.

The 44-year-old woman was discovered by a colleague at around 7:30 a.m.

RCMP constable Kathy Law says she was treated by EMS for injuries from the attack and then transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital for further treatment.

Law added that police don't know what might have motivated the attack or whether it was targeted or random.

"We don't have a lot of details and that is one of the reasons we are asking for the public's help in this incident."

Constable Kathy Law acknowledged that this kind of incident is not something that happens often in Yellowknife.

"It is being taken very seriously. The investigation remains open, and again we are looking for the public's help."

RCMP believes the attack took place between 5:30 and 7:30 am.

They are asking anyone who many have been in the area who saw someone entering or exiting the Northern Properties Management building on 49th street to contact the Yellowknife RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers.
