The Raging Boomers prepared for rally next week

Thursday, September 13, 2012 - 5:30 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - Parliament resumes next Monday and a group of activists are going to make sure it won't go unnoticed in Yellowknife.

The Raging Boomers, described as a coalition of those who grew up during the "baby boom" period, are set to rally in front of the Greenstone Building on that day to speak out about the direction the country is going in their view.

One of the group's founding members, Peter Redvers, said the rally will speak about the five core values which he says Canadians have fought hard for over the past few decades.

"Inclusive democratic practice and institutions, progress and protective environmental laws and actions, compassionate social justice programing, informed international diplomacy and sustainable and diversified economic development that benefits all citizens in all regions of the country as well."

Redvers said it's tough to put a number on just who or how many people will come out for the rally.

"We put the message out and will show up and will see what happens."

Guest speakers at the rally will include Dene National Chief Bill Erasmus and Mary Lou Cherwaty from the Northern Territories Federation of Labour.
