Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The one-year anniversary of First Air 6560's crash in Resolute Bay is approaching and the details about what happened are still being worked on.

Twelve people were killed when the Boeing 737 made what was described as a "controlled flight into terrain", meaning the crew had unintentionally flown into land.

The Transportation Safety Board has been on the case since last August and the lead investigator, Brian MacDonald, said the gathering and analysis has been done and the investigation has now advanced to the analysis writing.

"We are now determining what the impact is of all of the information; we are starting to draw together the information to determine how this investigation report will be put together."

It was expected that the report would have been released one year following the crash, but MacDonald said the report still needs a second look externally.

"In general terms you can say it’s going to be some months yet before the draft report is going to be ready for the board’s approval and then it goes through the external review process, and so it will be sometime next year."

He added the families of the victims have been kept up to date with what's been happening
