NewsYK Chamber of Commerce name interim president
Yellowknife, N.W.T. -With Tim Doyle in the running for mayor of Yellowknife, the city's Chamber of Commerce has had to go outside of its doors to find an interim executive director. Francoeur is the former executive director of the Economic Development Council of the NWT and she said her experience will help her going forward. "It gave me a chance to get to know the Yellowknife, the business community, the governments the local governments and a lot of the members of the YK Chamber of Commerce. And because of the work we did there was so similar to the YK Chambers work that it was very easy for me to just jump in." But Francouer said she has no interest in taking on the job full time should Doyle win the mayoral election. “I was very clear at the get go that I would develop all of the recruitment files and recruitment information that they would require. And that I would support the board in finding if Mr. Doyle did win, but that I would not be putting my name forward." Francouer will help guide the Chamber through a number of events this fall, including Small Business Week, the AGM, and the President's Ball.
