NewsNACC receives boost in funding from Feds
Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The federal government has promised $370,000 in funding to the Northern Arts and Culture Centre. The money will be spread over two years with $180,000 coming the first year and $190,000 in 2013-2014. NACC President, Jeff Pitre, said the centre had applied for the funding, but it was by no means guaranteed. "We kind of threw this funding together to see if it would happen, and it did, and we're one of the few jurisdictions in Canada that actually got some major funding to do presentations this year which is awesome." Pitre said the organization plans to use the funding to bring national and international artists to various communities around the NWT including Norman Wells, Fort Simpson, Inuvik, Yellowknife and Hay River. "So the funding will finally be able to really support the arts and culture through all the regions." The money comes from the Canada Arts Presentation Fund. CJCD Mix 100 News More Local
