Ledcor finalizes purchase of Arctic Sunwest Charters

Tuesday, July 17, 2012 - 1:29 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The Ledcor group of Companies announced Monday that it has concluded a definitive agreement to purchase the business and assets of Arctic Sunwest Charters.

Ledcor already owns and operates Summit Air Charters based out of Yellowknife, which has been providing specialized remote passenger and cargo air services in the North over the last 20 years.

Ledcor spokesperson David Hoff explained what this purchase means for them.
"Basically it's an opportunity for Ledcor to get more involved in the aviation services in the Northwest Territories and the North. We already have an investment with Summit Air. We're interested in expanding and growing our business there, and the opportunity arose where we could acquire Arctic Sunwest."

Hoff said they are a very diversified company and this purchase will add even more to what they can do in the future.

"We are a construction company primarily, but are a diversified operator and we manage fleets of equipment, both complex equipment and heavy equipment, and this will just be an extension of the business operations."

Ledcor is one of the most diverse construction companies in North America, serving the mining, infrastructure, and communication sectors.
