NewsCMA meetings important for the NWT
Yellowknife, N.W.T. -Everything is all over for the Canadian Medical Association in Yellowknife. Dr. Anna Reid was elected president during the 145th annual meeting, the first time it's ever been held in the NWT and health and social services minister Tom Beaulieu is hailing it as an important moment for the territory.
He said not only was there a lot of information shared, it was also a great recruiting tool of sorts for the NWT. Beaulieu had a chance to address to delegates during the meeting's official opening and he said it was a chance to tell those in attendance just what the territory's issues are. "We have a sparsely populate area over a large geographical area, and that we still have lots of trauma, multi-generational trauma, residential school legacy still hanging over our heads." Beaulieu also wished Reid good luck in her new venture as CMA president.
