Yellowknife, N.W.T. - A helicopter crash in the Yukon this past Tuesday has a Yellowknife connection.

The pilot of the chopper was killed when it crashed on the north side of Nares Lake on Nares Mountain, about 10 kilometres east of the community of Carcross.

The Yukon Coroner's Service identified the victim as 56-year-old Paul Rosset of Yellowknife, who was employed with Horizon Helicopters out of Whitehorse.

The Yukon's chief coroner, Kirsten MacDonald, said there is no cause of death yet.

"The investigation is ongoing. The coroner service, with the assistance of the RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board are continuing to investigate."

The TSB's western regional manager out of Edmonton, Jon Lee, said investigators are in the process of performing an assessment and gathering data.

"We did dispatch two investigators [Wednesday]. They were on-scene [Wednesday] collecting information, photographing the site. And [Thursday] they are in Whitehorse still, and conducting interviews and collecting information from the company."

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

Three other passengers remain in hospital.
