NewsDiscovery Air and Hybrid Air Vehicles deal cancelled
Yellowknife, N.W.T. - An agreement which would have potentially seen airships fly in the NWT has been scuttled. Discovery Air has announced a deal between it and Hybrid Air Vehicles out of the United Kingdom has come to an end under terms of the contract. In a press release, Paul Bouchard, who is president of Discovery Air Innovations, said the project just did not make financial sense to invest in.
Discovery's vice-president of government services, Gary Venman, said it wasn't the sort of deal which would have realized financial success right now. Venman also said they aren't completely through with the airship technology just yet. "We owe it to ourselves; we owe it to our investors, our customers, to keep ahead of emerging technologies in transportation." Under the agreement, Discovery was to purchase 45 airships from the company.
