McClean sentencing date pushed to September

Friday, August 10, 2012 - 4:49 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - Colleen McClean's sentencing hearing on forgery charges has been delayed so the victim and his family can be present.

The 62-year-old pled guilty last month to the charges of theft over five thousand dollars and using a forged document, after stealing money from her employer, Northern Communication and Navigation Systems, over a three year period.

According to the prosecution, the Jim Pook would like to be present at the sentencing hearing, along with his family, in order to read a Victim Impact Statement.

Defense counsel agreed to the delay because McClean would like to apologize personally, and on the record, to Pook and his family.

This is the second time sentencing has been delayed, as it was originally set for July 18th, but was pushed back to Friday.

Justice Christine Gagnon agreed with the two sides and set the new sentencing date for September 19th.
