NewsFunding extension request made for Hay River fire hall
Yellowknife, N.W. T. - Plans for the new fire hall continued this week in Hay River and it appears as though Stantec, the design firm, could be the biggest beneficiary. A Change Order request was presented to council to allow a $146 000 extension for Stantec, but a decision won't be made until March 26th. If approved, acting mayor Ken Latour said the full amount wouldn't necessarily be used. "Stantec is evaluating the tenders, the bids that we received. In addition to that we are looking at maybe some ways that we can bring down the cost of that fire hall without compromising the functionality of that building. That is new work that we will have to pay for but it is not the full amount of the change order," said Latour. There hasn't been any decision made yet on whether the fire hall will have five bays or six. Latour said, "Stantec is just basically confirming the bids, going through. They are doing some technical work up front to evaluate and confirm the bids that we've received." The next step will be to sit down with the Senior Administrative Officer and determine who wins the bid. CJCD Mix 100 News Similar StoriesMore Local
