NewsRamsay responds to concerns about Giant Mine ByPass Road contract
Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The issue involving the Giant Mine Bypass Road Project contract negotiations has now reached the top of the Department of Transportation. Minister Dave Ramsay shared his thoughts about what Range Lake MLA Daryl Dolynny had to say on the subject May 3 and he said like everyone else, Dolynny is entitled to have his say on the matter. A DOT spokesperson said yesterday that Deton Cho Corporation was the only company to submit a proper proposal under the GNWT's Negotiated Contracts Policy and Ramsay insisted it wasn't a knee-jerk decision. "That proposal underwent a rigorous review to insure that it met the objectives of the policy and that was fundamental," said Ramsay. Ramsay also said the decision to proceed with negotiations with Deton Cho was made by the GNWT cabinet and everyone was confident they had made the right choice. "When the cabinet decision was made to proceed we'd expect those negotiations to be successful," he said. He added the policy is one which will continue to ensure that Northern projects stay in the hands of local businesses to help them grow. CJCD Mix 100 News Similar StoriesMore Local
