NWT gets own IPAC chapter

Friday, May 11, 2012 - 12:28 PM

Yellowknife, N.W.T. - The Institute of Public Administration of Canada has chapters right across the country and now the NWT will be represented as well.

IPAC is a national organization that that brings together public servants, academics and others with an interest in public administration.

The territory's Chief Electoral Officer David Brock is one of the founding members of the NWT chapter.

Brock said the group will promote excellence in public service “and that is to provide neutral, effective and innovative public services for the people of the Northwest Territories."

In the current climate of government austerity I-PAC's president Maria David-Evans said public servants are needed now more then ever “and there may be less of them and so IPAC is there to support the public servants in trying to do more innovative things."

David-Evans spoke May 11 at a luncheon at the Legislative Assembly to celebrate the launch of the NWT chapter.
